Tampa Bay Lightning vs Boston Bruins Preview :
Big story: Tampa Bay struck first in this best-of-7 series, stealing a road win and home-ice advantage with a clinical 5-2 victory Saturday night. The Lightning used a three-goal outburst during an 85-second rampage in the first period of the game to take control of the game and slowly suck the life out of the Bruins, who did not score their second goal — on a deflection until the dying minutes of the game. The win gave Tampa its eighth-straight victory in the playoffs. Boston, however, has opened a series with a loss at home this post season. In fact, they lost the first two games to Montreal at the Garden in Round 1 before winning in seven games.

With the exception of the minute and a half mental and physical lapse in the middle of the opening frame the Bruins and Lightning were relatively competitive for the remainder of the game despite the final tally on the scoreboard. The Lightning are hoping they can get another quick start here tonight and take the Bruins crowd out of the game immediately allowing them to settle into their comfort zone and hopefully play to another road victory where the Lightning have enjoyed so much success in this postseason. The offense continues to pour in for the Bolts and it remains the unsung role players who get the ball rolling. Sean Bergenheim continued his scorching pace and netted his 8th goal of the postseason as Teddy Purcell, and Brett Clark chipped in as well which gave the Lightning that early 3-0 lead. If the offensive production continues to spread like wildfire for Tampa it will alleviate the defensive pressure on their big guns giving them more breathing room in the offensive zone giving them more opportunity to make things happen with the puck. If the Bolts can do so tonight they will be skating back to Florida up 2-0 and be 2 home ice wins removed from the Stanley Cup finals.
The Bruins meanwhile need to get back to their defensive style of play and Tim Thomas needs to shake off the cobwebs from what was surely an unwelcomed week off. Boston looked horrible in the opening 20 minutes but ocne they got their feet back they played just as well as Tampa. The B's face an early must win game in this series as they do not want to travel back to Tampa down 2-0 like they did against the Canadiens in the opening round. Even though the Bruins bounced back and won games 3 and 4 in Montreal and eventually the series in Game 7 this is the Eastern Conference finals and you can be sure a team like Tampa won't roll over and let the Bruins back into this series if they get them on the ropes. Boston could see the return of offensive presence Patrice Bergeron in this one but even if he doesn't the Bruins need to step up offensively and find a way to solve Dwayne Roloson. I think they do just that as the Bruins prevent the Lightning from winning their 9th straight and head back to Tampa with a 1-1 split. Chalky line for the home side on the moneyline so I think its worth a shot on the puckline or regulation plays.
